Almaty region occupies a special place transport sector in the country. This is due to the fact that roads and railways, which pass through this area, are part of the intercontinental transport corridors connecting Europe with Asia.

Also in this region are concentrated the main border crossing points to ensure the accessibility of our eastern and south-eastern neighbors. For this purpose, on the border with China, there are 3 road crossing points: «Dostyk», «Khorgos» and «Kolzhat». Besides, there operated the railway station at the point of transition «Dostyk» and the road crossing on the border with Kyrgyzstan - in the station «Kegen».

In addition, the Almaty region is famous for its natural resources, which are the main criteria for tourism development.

To the north of the city of Almaty, there is Kapshagay reservoir; to the south of the reservoir, there is located Zaili and Jungar Alatau, where you can see many beautiful places (Big Almaty lake, Issyk lake, divine Turgen waterfalls, alpine pine and etc). Five kilometers from the city Kapshagay there are unique rock carvings of 2 thousand years of age – Tamgaly Tas; in the north-east coast of the reservoir - Singing sand-dune; in the southeast area of the mouth of Ili River valley - one of the most memorable places - Charyn canyon and etc.
