Kazakhstan is a unitary state with presidential form of government, democratic, secular, legal and social state with the highest value of an individual, its life, the right and freedom.
Location
Kazakhstan is located at the crossroads of two continents - Europe and Asia, between 45 and 87 degrees east longitude, between 40 and 55 degrees north latitude.
Geographic center of the Euro-Asian continent is located in Kazakhstan. By the territory, Kazakhstan takes 9th place in the world, after Russia, China, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, India and Australia.
Kazakhstan borders the following states: China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Russian Federation. Total length of boundaries is 12187 km.

There are 8.5 thousand small and large rivers in Kazakhstan. About 80% of the territory of the Republic belongs to the inland areas and basins of internal drain. In Kazakhstan, there are 48,000 large and small lakes. Among them are the biggest - the Aral Sea, Balkhash, Zaisan, Alakol, Tengiz, Seletengiz.
Mineral Resources
Kazakhstan possesses various minerals. From 105 elements of Mendeleev’s periodic table, the subsoil of Kazakhstan holds 99 elements; there founded reserves of 70 elements, engaged in production more than 60 elements. Currently there are known 493 fields with about 1225 kinds of minerals.
Kazakhstan has significant oil and gas reserves concentrated in the western region. This fact allows considering the Republic as the largest oil-producing state of the world.
Infrastructure
Location of Kazakhstan in the heart of the Eurasian continent predetermines its high transport and communication capabilities in the field of transit and makes interest to many countries around the world.
Transportation and communication complex of the Republic is represented by rail, air, sea, river, pipeline transport, road network and telecommunication systems. Railways in Kazakhstan are the foundation of the transport system, as well as 79% of all freight is carried out by rail and 56% of passenger traffic.
The length of roads of general use is 87.4 thousand km, of which the Republican value is 17.7 thousand km. Roads in Kazakhstan have communication with Russia, other Central Asian countries and China.
The western part of Kazakhstan is washed by the waters of the Caspian Sea. The region has two seaports: “Aktau” and “Bautino”. Aktau seaport functions during all seasons and serves the international sea transportation oriented at dry cargo ship, crude oil and petroleum products.
There are 54 airports in the Republic. Air service covers almost all regions of the Republic. International airports are located in Almaty, Astana, Atyrau.

Kazakhstan is a country of market economy. The policy of the national economy is creating all conditions for socio-economic development.
